Justin Smoak double into the right field corner. The angles and level of aggressiveness that Cruz takes towards some balls that are hit behind him are...puzzling.
Heavy dose of well-placed curves by Colby tonight.
To start the season off, the level of intensity that the Rangers display on the field is off the charts. Colby achieved his Opening Day starter status thanks to his composure and control, and so far this season he is setting the perfect example for the raw pitching talent that follows him in the rotation.
Millwood is missing alot, but he's missing mostly outside of the zone and keeping this game close.
Young came real close to running at full-speed straight into the low brick wall along the first-base side. Pulled up just in time to avoid taking himself out.
Elvis executes a perfect bunt, like he just about always does, to move Kinsler to third with one down. Rangers are playing close, high-intensity games lately and seem incredibly focused. Young seems to be making it his mission to capitalize on every opportunity with runners in scoring position.
No idea what that very old man that Jim Knox was interviewing was saying, but he seemed AWESOME!
If Colby can keep controlling his breaking pitches like this, he's going to save the bullpen a lot of innings this year.
Got to be a frustrating strike zone for both the batters and the pitchers tonight; no consistency.
It's great watching how engaged Yu has been in every game so far this year.
Murphy has been frustrated at the plate all night. More reassurance tonight that the crafty pitcher still has his place in the MLB among all the flamethrowers.
Torrealba is a master of using his body language to communicate effectively and push the right buttons with his pitchers. Ogando seems like he's best in the bullpen because he gets a chance to put 100% effort into every pitch. He goes into a whole different gear when he does this.
God I cant wait to to try the Boomstick hot dog. That thing is a beast.
We'll see if either offense can adjust to the heater after 6 innings of Colby and Millwood. Wouldn't be surprised if this stays at 1-0. So much for that last thought! Kinsler just reminded me how locked in this offense seems to be. Back-to-back! Elvis didn't waste much time before showing us he bulked up this year. Hit it like a champ too, just put his head down and didn't bother watching it.
Montero is taking a beating tonight.
The zip on Ogando's fastball is amazing.
Cruz has got to be just a split-second quicker out there. Gotta love insurance runs.
Somehow if Ichiro is in the picture, you know he's going to find a way to catch the ball.
Smoak usually hits ropes when he makes contact. Nathan doesn't have the type of stuff to be catching this much of the plate. He just doesn't look very comfortable on the mound. A Mariners comeback and extra innings would be the biggest test of this team's perseverance so far this season. Let's hope they can even get to extra innings now with the blown save. Big strikeout to get 2 outs with the runner on third. Nathan should have been pulled before giving up the lead; he's hitting middle-middle over and over again. Millwood and Lewis showed how to miss the right way for most of the game. Joe Nathan missed the wrong way over the middle.
Brandon League seems to be in awe of the inconsistent strike zone as he comes into this game. Hopefully it will get to him.
Kinsler is exactly who you want up right now with the game on the line.
This ump has been bad throughout the game but managed to save his worst for the last inning; Kins is disgusted. Real nice sinker to take care of Kinsler and get to one out away from stealing this win from the Rangers. Andrus got robbed by Smoak to end it. Thank you Joe Nathan, the obvious weak link of this team so far, for the loss.
